Hi all!

I had my resection 2 weeks ago. My abdomen is all bruised from the heparin shots that I received. However, there is this one are that is maybe 4 inches x 6 inches that is black and blue--right lower abdomen. And it is more sore than the rest. Also there is a hard spot under part of it. Has any of you experienced that same thing? I called me surgeons office and explained it to the nurse and she said it sounded like the heparin shots. What do you all think? I am thinking of going to at least see my reg. doctor because I don't see the surgeon until the 18th.

Thank you!

It could be from the shots. I know I look like I got hit by a truck when I get them, like seriously BLACK bruises and they last like 3-4 weeks.  Mine are never hard though, could just be from the surgery and them digging around in there. Get it checked if out if your worried, hopefully its nothing! =)

Could the 'hard' places be scar tissue? Im not sure how fast it forms and Im assuming you've never had surgery before. I mean I would think its the shots, I assume their IM? Inter muscular? but why are you getting them that way? IM? its been 2 weeks are you at home? Is that normal to still be taking that? I never have taken them after a surgery that i can remember but how many of us can remember afterwards when your on medications. Is it being used for like clots from being non- or limited activity? What about the leg pumps? Thats what I always used in the hospital.
