Dear fellow-Crohnies:
I joined this forum back in 2000 when I was first diagnosed after years of symptoms, and underwent a small bowel resection in March of 2001.  I just wanted to share my good fortune and tell you that there is hope!  Since my surgery I have been in remission and doing really well.  Yesterday was my colonoscopy and my GI doctor was very happy: no inflammation, and everything looks healthy.  I have been taking fish oil and that's all.  I guess I just wanted to let you know, especially the newcomers, that sometimes things can go really well despite a rough diagnosis and surgery.
Hang in there and good luck!

I am glad to hear you are doing well, but I hope you aren't setting yourself up for a fall by not taking any maintainence meds. I did that and wound up having 2 resections within 3 years. After my last resection I went back on to a maintainence med, I only use Asacol and have been in remission since. Good luck!
