Pain is getting worse and worse, not just in the abdomen, its all over, it hurts just to touch my skin sometimes. I cant even make it 4 hours a day at work anymore. I was prescribed Bentyl but it only dulls the hurt. I also started biofeedback once a week. Please tell me has anyone here gotten addicted to the bigger pain meds? I want to ask for them but my GI and PCP have been hesitant to offer them and I'm guessing thats why. Also I'm on the list for Remicade b/c my Crohne's just doesnt want to go into remission and its getting increasingly harder to deal. Any guidance or someone to talk to would be so wonderful.

Hey Bella_sky and welcome to Healingwell. I have never been a big Bentyl fan myself as it really doesn't help with all the pain we have, great for spasms though. I am not addicted or dependent on pain meds, but I am sure if I used it more I could be. But in my eyes, I have chronic pain everyday, most from my joints now, so I have to use the pain meds daily just to get thru the pain. I started off taking 1/2 tab of Vicodin, but that quit working for me, so now I take 1/2 Percoset three times a day. Many of us on the forum have to use these pain meds just to get thru our days. Most GI's are notorious for not prescribing pain meds, so we either get them from our family docs or from pain mgmt docs. Alot of folks on the forum have had luck with Tramadol aka Ultram. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the suggestions Nanners :) The GI and PCP keep telling me to hold on until I can start Remicade, which I keep hearing is "soon." Guess I need to accept this and start finding work to do from home.
dx w/CD finally in July 2009, currently taking pentasa, entocort, cipro, flagyl, probiotics, celexa, bentyl, biofeedback.

I am just now going through the nonsense of getting into a "pain management" clinic, so I thought I'd chime in just to warn you - it seems to take an unreasonably long time to go through this process, so heads up.

My gi won't prescribe more than 2 weeks of any pain med. My PCP said the same. So I had to wait 3 weeks to see the PCP to get the referral for the pain clinic, which takes 2 months to get into on top of that.

ANyway, my point is, if you're twiddling your thumbs waiting for Remicade anyway, you may as well consider the options and finances of the pain clinic appointment in the mean time. Don't do what I did and wait until you hurt enough to want to go get help, cuz then you're going to get to twiddle your thumbs some more.

I'm finding relief with half a vicoden, twice a day. I've had good luck with Ultram/Tramadol in the past, but lately it's been useless. There's a couple of threads with pain med discussions that are probably worth reading.

I hope you get some relief soon, Bella.

Tried Humira. Failed. Tried Gluten Free. After 11 months, failed that too. Cimzia - failed.
