Hey guys, it has been a while since I've been on this site. I used to be here almost religiously as I was suffering from Crohn's symptoms such as bloody stool, gas, and abdominal pain pretty regularly. Then, I started taking Remicade, and everything got better for a little while. I was eating whatever I desired, gaining weight, and life was good. Then, the greasy food started kicking me back, and I couldn't tolerate it. Also, I encountered heavy stress and began to experience the symptom of D, and loose stool.
I told my-self, I need to change this, so I signed up for the gym, so I could SWIM. Swimming, turned my stool type around from D and loose, to normal within a DAY. I'm usually a two-day digestive tract guy, so I was expecting two-days, it happened in one. I now swim as frequently as I can at my Gym for 30$/month. I know swimming isn't a viable remedy to everyone on these forums, but to those who it is I figured I would post this. In addition, I do adhere to a rather strict diet, of foods I know I tolerate. I cheat on my diet occasionally, but when I do cheat, I never worry about D anymore. I used to keep a journal to record my stool type and what I ate, I no longer need it. So, as I know everyone's body is different, I'd say at least give swimming a shot, and see what happens. I Personally, have not seen too many studies to show swimming as a possible remedy to Crohn's Symptoms, so who knows? Either way, swimming has helped me immensely as my symptoms are pretty much absent bar the symptom of gas from when I cheat on my diet.
Also, I recommend finding Shelled Hemp Seed from a farmer's market/whole food store/vitamin store. Shelled Hemp Seed provides plenty of Omega 3's, and Amino Acids-which help with metabolizing food, which anyone with Crohn's could use. You can add the seeds to cereal, salad, or low temperature cooking.
I'll check back later on, but I would like to hear back from anyone else who tries swimming as a remedy. Good Luck, and Feel Better to all of you.
