and I'd like to thank Spookyhurst and everyone else for making me feel so much better before the big day on Monday. It wasn't a great experience but it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected it to be. It's kinda weird but after being in the hospital for five days I even miss it or maybe it was the really nice nurse I had. Anyways I'd like to say thanks and to say I had an open resection...so if anyone else has any questions like I did...I'd also be happy to answer them.

Glad to hear you're home! I've been thinking about you all week :-). Now it's time to relax and recover. You'll be surprised how much better you feel each day.

Welcome home, I'm glad you are better.

I have never had a resection for my chron's although I have fought off several bowel obstructions. I have a question, I hope it isn't to silly. If you have a resection do you have a ostomy bag?? I was just curious. Thank You, KayC

I have had two open resections myself. Be gentle to yourself for a bit. Here's to a long long remission.

Not2Spunky, no when you have a resection, most folks do not end up with a colostomy. Only those whose Crohns is really bad and they require it. But for the most part most don't get one.

Thanks everyone. I'm resting and doing so much better. I can already eat things I couldn't eat just the day before the surgery. I'd really like to get well enough to try sushi. Anyone every try it?

Hi, Not2Spunky.

I didn't have an ostomy bag. I do think they warn you if they think that you may need one after the surgery. I'm afraid I don't know much about ostomy bags.
