When you start, don't eat more than a 1/2 cup of homemade yogurt. There are a lot of probiotics in there, and too much will upset your system. You need to gradually increase the yogurt.
Yes! Spooky is right! Somewhere on the SCD website I've read to start with only a teaspoon or two of yogurt a day and gradually increase. This ever-so-slowly introduces the beneficial bacteria into your intestines. I think it's possible you just introduced too many good guys to fight the bad guys too quickly...
Yet another thought....Is it possible the lactose could have bothered you? The brand of plain yogurt you bought may have had too much lactose. This is the reason behind making your own yogurt; the lactose is consumed by bacteria during the 24 hour fermentation process, so that even people who are lactose intolerant (or sensitive) can eat it without issues.
