I wanted to know what everyone think of the universal  health care. I have health insurance, but its horrible with high deduction. People with pre-existing condition will get turn down by insurance company. Prescription company are ripping people of with rediculous price. Pentasa cost almost $500 for a month supply. Canada, Brtitian and France all have free health care and it seem to be working very good for them. They pay higher tax for the benefit.

Unfortunately there is a perception in the U.S. -- not amongst everyone, but enough people to cause problems -- that universal health care is a "bad" thing. This group of people perceives universal healthcare as a form of socialism / welfare. Many people get at least mediocre, sometimes better, healthcare coverage through their jobs and do not think (or care) about what will happen if they get sick with something like CD / Cancer / etc ... until they get sick. Also, from my observations, the average level of care is better in countries like Canada, France, UK; however the highest level of care is better in the U.S. and conversely the people at the bottom in the U.S. are far worse off than if they were in one of those other countries.

I just finished watching Sicko. Wow. If you have never watched it, watch it. In France, Britain, Canada, and Cuba, the health care is free. There was one person in the movie who had an inhalator or some sort of medication. In the US, it was $120. In Cuba, it was $0.05. Our satanic health care system....well, you know how it is.

I know a girl who got IBD in England. She said the public healthcare there was horrible and they couldn't get back to the US fast enough for treatment. She did however say that private healthcare in England was great, perhaps even better than in the US.

i really dont care about perception or this group of people. I would like to go into a dentist office (as I currently need a tooth fixed) know what to pay, without having to fill out forms, being asked for insurance , having a referral etc etc...and waiting for 2 hours. I just want an appointment and my tooth fixed. Is that so difficult. It doesnt take 2000 pages of HR bill. Clearly the bill is not about universal health care nor about affordable health care ..it is hiring an entirely new government entity to supervise the distribution of health care. I dont want to pay by 'where I live', as I dont expect to get charged more in florida than in NY (just an example), but that won't happen because the the present system is so set in concrete, state regs as well...you the basic coverage oh then you hafta have the enhanced ,,etc.... its about big government's ability to employ the lawyers who sort out the legalese mumbo jumbo. Hopefully I will get my tooth fixed during my lifetime. This has taken, what? 2 presidents promising something They vote this week lets see. HR 3200

Sadly, this is political. Made to be political by those in control, exactly as medchart1 said in different words.

Sicko was made by a real sicko. A movie with distortions and lies made by a man who loves to bash everything about this GREAT country--now capitalism--while he rakes in tens of millions of dollars. Ahhhhh... the irony...
