Hi Everyone-

It has been a while since I have been on. I have been searching for anything about Cimzia and pregnancy or nursing. I am currently 10 weeks pregnant and I only know that cimzia has not been studied in nursing or pregnant women. My medication guide tells me that. Does anyone have any knowledge or a place I can look at information? I tried to search it, but only humira and remi came up. Am I searching wrong? Please help. I am staying on it through my pregnancy because it is the only medication that has made me feel "normal" again. I also wonder if it is helping my pregnancy sickness because I have never felt this good while pregnant.

I want to nurse, however if it hasn't been studied then I am hesitant. Nursing is also really hard on my body so I am ok either way.

Please let me know if you have any information.

Hi Kgirlie

I have Crohn's disease too and have been on Cimzia for about 6 months. Just found out this week, that I am pregnant. My doctor wants me to continue on Cimzia, but I'm really nervous about doing that since there isn't any info about how it might affect the baby.

If I found any info, I will let you know.

Anyone else know anything about Cimzia and pregnancy/nursing?

Go to Dr. Hale's site. He has the best information about all meds and nursing.

I was at the CCFA patient IBD conference in NY yesterday, and someone asked a similar question of a very reputable IBD specialist. If i remember correctly, she said that Cimzia was the safest anti-tnf(a), because the size of the molecule was larger than in remicade (and possibly in humira, i don't recall that latter part). As to breastfeeding, I think she said anti-tnf(a) OK, but that if preferable, they try to stop 6mp and aza during breastfeeding (not pregnancy), but that you can measure the amount of it that seeps into the breastmilk and make a judgment then.
