I would like to develop a reference for newbies on what are some basic safe foods, if I can get enough response I will ask to make it a sticky.
What are your safe foods?
such as mash potatoes, jello, chicken soup, pudding, etc.

Chicken soup, mashed potatoes, toast to name a few.  I live on a low residue diet all the time, and that seems to be good for me in good times and bad.  In the good times, I can add a few more things like sauces.  I avoid red meats at all times, they just cause blockage like symptoms in me.  Hope that helps a little.

My number 1 safe food is homemade yogurt. Also, scrambled eggs, chicken soup, and homemade jello (100% juice and plain Knox geletin). Applesauce, pearsauce, and tilapia are generally pretty good too.

Chicken cooked in olive oil and seasoned with ground garlic and sea salt. Very simple, and usually safe.

I can't really think of anything else right now. I've lost most of my safe foods to other autoimmune problems.

Chicken generally seems to be safe if you're able to manage solid food though.

Starch: Toast is my comfort food! With just margarine, peanut butter or nutella, Mmmm.
Mashed Potatoes, naan, white tortillas, arrowroot or digestive cookies and saltines.
White noodles or Raman (noodle soup) are great.

Drinks: I dont reaally like jello or Gatorade, so I drink apple juice, white grape juice and tea.
I also like Gingerale mixed with cranberry juice to take away some of the carbonation.

Also: This is strange but the Heinz Brown Beans in Tomato Sauce have never given me a problem and I love Love LOVE them!

Vanilla Ensure plus, white bread, white rice, boiled boneless skinless chicken breast- lived off these things and only these things for 2 years when I was at my worst. Oh and low fibre white noodles... after awhile of feeling a little better I was able to tolerate cheese- boy that was good! as things got better and better for me I was almost able to eat anything except most fruits and veggies, high fibre, nuts , seeds and high spice. Still had/have to listen to my body and lay off certain things when I am not feeling so good. One thing that I have learned through the years is that there are so many types of "not feeling good" with crohn's and that is due to the areas of activity varying all the time- for me anyway. Some days eggs might be fine, others not ... for example.

Does anyone else have problems drinking ensure? I used to drink that but I think it made me bloated and I would have to go to the bathroom right away cause I would be in extreme pain.

I like baked chicken or grilled (no skin), fish of all kinds, gluten-free crackers and bread (tapoica), non-dairy butter, vegetarian cheese, protein drinks, scrambled egg whites, mashed potatoes, and stuff like that. Before I was flaring I was eating pretty much what I wanted. . . could be why I had such a bad flare this last time. I'm taking it much easier now. I hardly ever eat red meat and when I do it's usually ground beef, low in fat and organic.

Ensure is very high in sugar (first 3 ingredients are water, sugar, and corn syrup). When you look at all the special diets for digestive problems, the one thing they seem to agree on is that sugar is bad for your gut.

Mashed potatoes! Bob Evans makes a refigerated microwave portion that actually tastes like real mashed potatoes and takes no energy to cook.

I also live on white rice, toast with a little jelly (no jam), ensure, white crackers, pastas plain or with the tiniest of seasoning in the water in which they boil, plain baked ham, eggs for protein

Kia---I also am one of the lucky ones that can handle milk...there does not seem to be many CDers that can handle it though (I use it to make me feel full)
Dx'd '90 (emergency rupture), symptoms ignored long before that, '03 fistulas and bad flagyl reactions, B12 weekly, Pentasa [until I surrender to the bigger meds]
