Hi all,

Since my unfortunate experience with Asacol last Monday, I've been pretty sick. (The Asacol gave me a bloody D reaction). I started a short prednisone taper this morning - 1 week at 30mg, 1 week at 20mg, 1 week at 10mg.

I was starting to feel a little better yesterday, started eating again - but still having ab pains and got up to run to the toilet about 4 times last night. I'm curious to see if the pred will work for me this time. It has never worked in the past 4 times I've taken it, but I have since learned that I had a nasty c-diff infection at the time which went undetected. So, maybe it will have a chance this time.

So, how quickly does prednisone help you when you are sick? It's pretty fast right?
CD since July 2007 - prenatal vitamins + extra vit. D, vit. C and iron, fish/flax oil, probiotics

Following excellent Omega-3 diet as per James Scala's 'The New Eating Right for the Bad Gut' - got me out of a flare.

my experience with prednisone has been within a day, maybe two I have felt a little better but to get the full benefit probably around 3 days, but everybody is different and as far as I can remember I was on a lot higher dose than 30mg to start with.
Hope you feel better soon.

I guess I am the exception. It usually takes me close to a week to feel better.

Prednisone seems like it hits me within 1-2 days. Helps immensely, but the side effects are horrible!

I notice a definite improvement with pred in less than a day. I think it takes 2-3 days to fully kick in.
