I would just love to wake up one day and feel rested, feel like I could take a run.  Instead I am faced everyday with constant fatigue, arthritis pains and stiffness, tendonitis.  Then to top it off I have been having Chest pain and rib & sternum pressure/tenderness which they tell me is anxiety, but how does anxiety last all day and for wks when I’m not even stressed at that moment.  I know its all related why cant these docs help me feel better the more meds they but my on the worse I feel the fatigue increases and I didn’t have the chest pain or rib & sternum pressure/tenderness until my meds were increased.  Are these meds increasing my crohns symptoms or is something else going on.  What is going on with my body, why wont anyone listen to me.  I know my body and I don’t want to feel this way anymore.  I just want to be heard and something to be done besides keep shoving meds down my throat that have horrible side effects

You should check out the anxiety/panic forum and see if you can get suggestions on how to cope with anxiety without medicine. Maybe someone can suggest how to reduce your stress or relax to hope that helps with the chest pain. I've had anxiety issues myself, but I'm on meds for it (mine started after a car accident) and I'm happy with how they work and they don't cause any side effects with me.

Hope you get feeling better soon!

the insulin relationship has gotten me wondering if we are stuck waiting for the insulin to kick in and rather we are stuck in a metabolism frame, like skinny crohns wanting on the insulin to stop the fatty acid breakdown and those with more weight stuck in a glucose metabolism waiting for glucagon or vice versa I dunno. but the analogy to diabetes seems to help me understand what might be occurring. We dont require insulin but there is insulin resistance (even though its in range) hard to explain but this is supposed to be continuous cycle. I therefore cannot tell you to increase glucose if I dont know the frame that you might be stuck in, in this analogy anyways. But if you can handle the bloating then reluctantly say your glucose is not up to par. bowel is empty and the prednisone is saying something is there. I dont get the prednisone balance... just because it helps with some inflammation its the exact opposite of insulin so your glucose metabolism never kicks in.

thanks, my doc suggested belly breathing, etc. I need a spa day, but who can afford it with kids etc. I'm sure that would lift me for at least a day. I'm just saying I dont feel as though these docs are listening to me, really listening to what I have to say. I had an apt with a head doc last wk and he actually listened and actually realized that people dont know what we are going through. We look fine on the outside, except for the very thin or anemic. Yet in reallity we are not, our relationships are not the same our bodies hurt all over, we are extremely fatigued. Its so upsetting to know whats wrong, but not be able to fix the problem. I found out I had cd 5yrs ago in that 5 yrs my cd has spread, I hurt every day. I can deal with the stomach pain, I've had it all my life. Its the joint pain and fatigue that I can not handle. I so want to make a stand. I'm sick of people not knowing all that cd effects. We hurt and do not want to hurt anymore. I want to be a better mom to my kids, I dont want them to remember me in pain and so tired I could barely stay awake. I want to be the mom taking them here and there and teaching them to climb a tree, which I cant even do because my tendenitos in my foot will not heal.

Ashyla, have your doctors considered fibromyalgia?

The chest pain, "arthritis", fatigue, tendon troubles, all fit with a diagnosis of fibro, though, of course, they could indicate a lot of other things too.

I agree with Ivy I am wondering if you are suffering with Fibro too. I recently added Vitamin D3 to my med mix and it helped stop the fibro pain.

Ashyla, was reading your post because it sounds just like me!! I was thinking the same thing as the moderators about the fibromyalgia. I have it and it sounds like you might need to get checked out for it. There is also something called costochondritis where you get a lot of pain in your breastbone in the middle of your chest (breasts.) The tissue there for me actually feels swollen. But, there are times I have thought I was having a heart attack and another time one young, inexperienced doctor told me I had a fatty tumor there! X Rays and sonogram did not confirm that. A rheumatologist told me it was costochondritis. Get to a good PCP and feel better! I'll be anxious to hear how you are doing. Good luck!

I might agree. My fibromyalgia flares after each Crohn's flare. The widespread body pain is hard to cope with. I am on a low dose (25mg) Nortryptiline (sp?) (for depression, a doc would prescribe the same drug in 200mg+) and it has helped me SOOO much. It has taken away probably 80% of my daily pain. My biggest challenge is neck pain from a previous injury so I'm talkin to my doc about that today ... maybe up the Nortryptline?

Keep going back for answers until you feel good. Your kids deserve it. I spent about 2 years in bed for 16 hours a day in so much pain while my three boys were in high school. Those are lost years .... Embrace their childhood!
Diagnosed with Crohn's 2004 via pill camera    Imuran (6MP) kicked into remission (along with modified diet) so went off in 2006.
2009/2010 acute flare and hospitalization - put back on Imuran. Currently taking 55 mg prednisone.
Current problem - protruding thrombosis hemorrhoid.

thanks for all of your replies, I am waiting to see a rheumatologist I have an apt for next mnth.  My GI seems to think I have CD related arthritis.  I dont know what it is although I know it does increase when my meds are increased for some reason.  I'm a very allergic  to a lot of meds.  Maybe that is why.  I do take vit D 50,000 units once a wk & I can tell when I am getting to the end of my wk because I hurt more.  Its hard because I have tendenitis in one foot and arthritis in the other with mild marrow loss.  So you would think they would test my bone density, but they haven't and osteoporosis and osterarthritis run in both sides of my family & My Granny has fibromyalgia.  I dont want them to wait to long and me to feel worse.  My bones in my legs mainly hurt my left leg have been hurting for a yr. & a half.  THey (docs) say lets con. on one thing at a time and I think they are all related.  Thanks cant wait for some relief.  I have meds for anxiety yet I try not to take them because they knock me out and I have to take care of my 1 yr old & 3 yr old.  I actually take meds to help me stay awake, eventhough I slept 12hrs last night, how pathetic is that & still woke up tired.
