OK so i was at 299 when this all started, yea imma fattie get over it! Considering that ive been that weight for quite some time you can imagine that its hard for me to lose weight, but this is wayyy too much for me. Ive lost now 32lbs and counting, i don't even want to get on the scale anymore, and not for the usual reason of the number is too big. Im actually panicked because i cant keep weight on anymore! Just the thought of this being my everyday life from now on, just sux. I know with god i can overcome, but dont i have enough on my plate already?
Im 20 y/o, i am the sole bread winner of my house which includes my mother, father, and 2 brothers. If i get fired from my job because im going thru this crap, which is very possible at this point, we will be on the streets in no time.

I'm very sorry to hear of your struggle. I think most Crohnies lose alot of weight and then gain then lose. It's a vicious cycle. I understand where you are coming from. I lost a ton of weight in the beginning, but rest assured it will come back. Just try and relax and take a deep breath. Worrying over it won't make it any better. Know there are people here who understand and live and do your job in the best way you can. That's all you can do. So please try not to worry and get more upset, because that will make your flare much much worse. And know everyone here and around you cares.

I agree with Lizard99, once you get the disease under control the weight loss will slow/stop. I also agree that its important you try to keep your stress levels down, as stress is not a friend of Crohns. Has your doctor prescribed any meds to help you get your Crohns under control? I think that is one of the first steps you need to get done, and that is get on meds to get your disease under control. Good luck and keep us posted. Hugs!

I'm so sorry - and I can relate as most of can and hearing our stories will assure you that you are not alone!  Do take the above advice and get your disease under control with the right meds. I'm a wholistic kind of gal, and I am committed to my meds as I can't get as sick as did this fall (I was eventually hospitalized) as I'm looking for employment.  I lost 25 pounds in four weeks ... and then ...
I just got back from my dr. appt yesterday and I've put all back on plus 4 pounds! I look like a big fatty ... my appetite is out of control on prednisone (I'm still on a high dose, starting with IV steriods, then 60 mg, now 55 mg after 4 weeks after hospitalization.  My family doc is talking to my GI doc to see if we can come down a bit faster. I am retaining so much fluid and you can see it in my face. And I have a blind date on Friday! ARGH!
So, my point in sharing all this, is life goes on ...  and sometimes if feels like Crohn's is a ball and chain...
As eating can be hard, esp. when you are so busy which it wounds like, why not try som protein shakes? I bought some brown rice protein powder at HyVee for not that much money. I add rice milk to mine - as reg. milk can be an irritant to some.  I add physillum to mine which might help you if you have diahreahha (sp?) ... and you can blend in any fruit you can tolerate. I've heard people on this site talk about papaya and kiwi being a good digestive.  You know what you can tolerate and there are a lot of shakes options out there.  You can make them ahead of time and put them in the bell jars (they come in pint and quart sizes) and take them to work and have them when you need to supplement.  The jelly jars work well as the seal won't leak in your bag.
As you can see, I'm a bit maternal as I have three sons about your age ... but hang in there and come back to this site often. I've just found it and it has helped me so much!! Thanks to the excellent moderaters who obviously have a lot of experience.
Diagnosed with Crohn's 2004 via pill camera    Imuran (6MP) kicked into remission (along with modified diet) so went off in 2006.
2009/2010 acute flare and hospitalization - put back on Imuran. Currently taking 55 mg prednisone.
Current problem - protruding thrombosis hemorrhoid.
