So this latest flare has been more painful than most.  I have been feeling very cold for a week +.  I decided to take my temp and it is 97.6 oral.  That is probably reasonably normal.
It seems though that when I eat or drink I get very bad pain and have to run to the toilet for D or bloody D.  I don't throw up and I don't know about bloating.  I have alway had seperate clothing for flares because my gut expands but I guess I just want your thoughts on this for example the only thing I ate this morning was a cup or tea and minutes later I was on the toilet in a lot of pain.  (decafe by the way).  Last night mashed potatoes and the pain was so bad I couldn't eat the chicken broth afterwards.  I wonder if this is a narrowing?  35 years with ibd and I have had about enough.  I know many of you understand that feeling.

It could be a narrowing, but it could be a general flare up too. With regards to feeling cold, are you on an immunesupressant such as 6-MP or Imuran? I've heard they reduce your temperature. I tend to always have a slightly low temp, even though I'm no longer on 6MP. But last autumn I had a temp that was consistently nearly 2 deg. C below normal - I was always freezing cold then. At that time I was still on the 6MP and kind of put it down to that, although it did pass after about a month.

With my (suspected, not diagnosed) stricture, I have been tending towards a delayed pain response, that is, the pain comes on a couple of hours after eating and is at its worse about five or six hours afterwards. That is, when I suffer pain. It's variable. Some days it's only a bit, other days it's a lot.

Anyway, you sound like you're really suffering. I think you should see a doctor about it :-/

Thanks for your insight. I am in for the colonoscopy on Tuesday. I quit imuran due to pancreas reaction. I might be cold from dehydration. I ate a bit this afternnon and didn't hurt until an hour later. I am drinking gatorade right now and I guess I will find out soon enough if it will hurt me. I think I am dehydrated though so I plan to drink a lot the next few days.

I just went through what you are expereincing over Christmas! Low temp and then eventually raised only at night. I would highly recommend you ditch the gatorade and use my 'secret' drink which will give you electrolytes wthout all the artificial stuff in that googey drink: Pedalyte (unflavored) - I would cut with filtered water as I couldn't stand it at 100% but as much as you can, and then any kind of clear juice to flavor. I wish I would have found this before I was put in the hospital for dehydration as I couldn't stand anything to eat, even gatorade, vitamin water, etc. I don't tolerate anything artificial.

There was someone on another thread recommending a meal replacement which maybe would help to give you a rest - they recommended ograin which you could google. But I've found brown rice protein mix which I think combined with rice milk might be easier than mashed potatoes ... just an idea.

I fell for you ... I lost 25 pounds in 3 or so weeks ... and now that I'm on high doses of prednisone, gained it all back ... but having some abdominal pain so thinking of backing off of solids for a few days to get this under control.

Amazing that even with all the time we can have this disease, we are always learnign how to deal with it. A testimony to how tricky this disease is.

Hang in there ....

WOW thank you for the responses and hugs. I am not sure but I think that I am improving. I will take your advice(s) about diet and it helps to know others have had these symptoms. I wonder if the Colyte will affect me differently this time but I'll find out Monday eve.

Strength and good luck to you all

Update: The colyte was tuff this time I think because I have not eaten well in days and my gut is so bad.

Had the EGD and colonoscopy. The doctor wants me to resume my prilosec which I was so proud I got myself off of a couple of weeks ago. Errosion of the esophagus. So there is that. He also found a "severe" crohn's flare left side and several ulcers else where. He believes I should try remicade and I believe I will.

Thank you all again for your suggestions. I am glad I don't have a stricture and I am excited to try the remicade. Perahps I may have a life one day. :)

I know just what you are going through, when i was having the worst flare ever (almost hospitalized) Even a piece of toast sent me running to the bathroom in pain. It hurt so much that I stopped eating all together, not a good thing to do. But i was at a loss. The good thing I did get through it. My GI doctor put me on a butt load of prednisone. I will never forget that time in my life.  I did go on Remicade and worked wounders!!! Unfortunately I could not afford to keep taking it. I hope you have great results too on remicade!

Thanks justagirl.
OK but here is something weird. Since I got out of the hospital today I started eating. A chicken sandwhich at Good Times and just now an egg sandwich on toast.

I haven't been able to eat in days. I wonder why after the proceedure I can eat and I wonder if I will pay a price tomorrow for eating? I really needed the food though.
