 Hi

Not strictly fungus in the gums after a tooth extraction but my son had a fungus flare up in his mouth just before xmas. He was put on fungilin (amphotericin) lozenges to knock it back. I did read somewhere that it could be caused by anti-biotics used to treat Crohn's(knocks out both the good and bad bacteria) Within a couple of days it had stabilised again

Never had fungus in the gums and I wouldn't recommend this while your pocket is healing, however, I use baking soda for toothpaste to help ward off fungal growth in my mouth every single day! Notice I did not say toothpaste with baking soda in it. Not only antibiotics can cause fungal infections but prednisone has flared up a many case of oral thrush as well. Been there once...don't plan on going back. Controling the acidity in the mouth is good for the teeth anyway! i.e.; bad cola! Hope it clears up soon for you!
