Bad symptoms started a couple months ago- esophageal spasms and bad inflammation in the esophagus.  At the worst of it had a difficult time was bad.  Symptoms now is mid chest feel as though I have a thorn stuck there at times, it can lead to a more widespread burn across my chest from that area.  I have been on the ppi's, eating really bland, doing everything to help the situation..  I was diagnosed with acid reflux about 6 years ago(along with crohn's)
I was so nervous to get the results of the biopsies today- turns out I have a condition I was born with- I have a patch of stomach lining/cells in my esophagus- mid chest where I have been having symptoms.  This patch acts as a stomach does, it produces a small amount of stomach acid.  Treatment is to continue on with the losec twice a day.  Surgery he said is not an option as it is too risky.
It is called Gastric heterotopia  ..does anyone also have this?  I never heard of this before..  He said there was no barets, crohns or any other damage.

I kind of have the same thing my esophagus and throat is so bad it feels like I'm swallowing glass jsut to swallow. then I started getting really bad canker sores, I did 2 endo's and he said it was probably crohns but showed really nothing in the scope but he put me on imuan and pred, witch helped alot, it would come and go but when it would come I could barley eat or drink it was so painful, so now it's ok with the pred, I'm not convinced the imuran is helping. but I have cdsince 1970 with 4 surgeries, I have to see mygi on mar.4th I'll ask about what you have.

Artist guy it takes about 3-4 months of being on Imuran to see the benefit. Be patient a little longer.
