Valerie with your history I do not think it is wise to stay at home. You sound as if you had a least a partial obstruction. Please next time grab a trash can and take yourself to the ER. You could do some serious damage to yourself if an obstruction is not taking seriously.
Whenever I have had an obstruction my symptoms have been similar but the stomach pain came in waves much like labor pains i.e. coming in waves every few minutes or so. Once the vomiting starts that means things are backing up on you. I agree with your folks you should not wait. Be on the watch in case it comes back, and this time PLEASE take yourself to the ER.
