I also had my colonosocopy/endoscopy (first one) last night and I'm still really tired from it today, about 20 hours later, so I'm hoping the tiredness will pass and I'll be my happy self again : )

It takes about 3-4 days to get back to pre-scope feeling.
Are you pooping yet?

Yes, been pooping. I just feel "off" today, sort of weepy, tired, I haven't done much b/c I want to sleep. I am trying to eat good, be positive and flush any narcotic or anything from it out of my system.

So far today, I have had 2 boiled eggs, 2 pieces of brown rice bread, I'm trying for a turkey sausage, frozen blueberries and 2 small gluten-free cookies, lots of water and my vitamins.

yeah, what mmmnavy said - read the specific carbohydrate book (SCD - big online resource) and the makers diet. these are great books and have helped a lot of people. you may have to do some tweaking for your own individual needs and it may take a few months to see changes, but you'll get a great education on proper nutrition.

Crazy Harry - are you still med free?

I would suggest Life Without Bread for starters and then possibly moving on to Good Calories, Bad Calories (heavy reading). I've recently committed to Paleo (tried SCD) and feeling the best I have in a while.

I'm sorry what's SCD?

So Life Without Bread, Paleo, The Maker's Diet and Kitchen Table Wisdom?

Those books are a good start. The SCD is the Specific Carb Diet. Many IBDers find success with it. Personally, I improved but not to remission. Doing better with Paleo.

I also wonder if Gall Bladder can cause/help contribute to all these symptoms, but I don't have any normal "Gallbladder attack" type symptoms.

Yes, the SCD is the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. The SCD book is called "Breaking the Vicious Cycle" by Elaine Gottschall.

I started with "Brasco Broth," which came from Jordin Rubin's book "Guts to Glory," and used his book as a guide for a 3 weeks.  I like the way his book lays out foods into categories.  I then picked up "Breaking The Vicious Cycle" and have used that as my primary diet.  I'm 4 months into that diet, and doing well.  I also just picked up "Nourishing Traditions" by Sally Fallon and LOVE this book!  You still have to watch what you eat, find your triggers, and adjust recipes accordingly, but her book is a massive treasure trove of information and recipes.  Have you started a food journal yet?  I have found, at the beginning of my diagnosis, that this is an invaluable tool.  I write down bowel movements, pain or symptoms, and what I eat, so I can track if anything sets me off.

Take a few moments to breathe, and relax.  You sound like you are a very capable person, and I'm sure you will get a handle on this soon.  Remember that Crohn's is an individual disease.  You have to discover what you are comfortable with in treatment and what you feel works best for you.

Please feel free to contact me.  I would love to talk with you.

Blessings and stay strong,

Thanks guys, I will take it easy. I was so kind of tired, weepy I guess I think I can just bounce back from anything and want to do cart wheels or something, when I need to accept "rest" and enjoy it without thinking it means I'm depressed. LOL. I'm gonna go take a mineral salt bath tonight, since my son is gone at the grandparents for another night. I did make it with the husband to run errands tonight. I'm still eating lightly since I have no idea what I can or cannot have and waiting for this Prilosec stuff to kick in or make my stomach acid better in a few days, since all natural things had failed.

Yes, a grain-free diet would likely be the same as the SCD, but the SCD removes all double-sugars so it's also sugar and milk free. Also "Life Without Bread" puts forth a grain-free diet, but restricts total carbs, as well.

If you have a connection with Mercola, you might want to ask him about Prilosec.

I hope you feel much better soon! :-)

I live on a low residue diet all the time, and that works best for "ME". Some have had success with the SCD or Maker's Diet, but for "ME" I find them too restrictive. You can google low residue diet and get some diet ideas. Good luck!

Also, Peaceandhappiness on a administrative note, could you please go into the control panel and edit your signature. Signatures are not to be longer than 10 lines including spaces. Thank you for your understanding:)

"Breaking the Vicious Cycle" by Elaine Gottschall is the book everyone is referring to for the SCD.

The website is called pecanbread.com.

Looks like most everyone directed you to food books (I know you specifically asked about diet) but I found this book to be of great understanding to me when I was first diagnosed:

100 Questions & Answers about Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis: A Lahey Clinic Guide.

I got mine for free on the CCFA web site (don't know if they are still doing that or not...I know you can buy it).
