After starting imuran I got a sinus infection and was prescribed antibiotics.  After 10 days on antibiotics still sick...so I saw the ENT today- he said I have thrush, no longer have the sinus infection.  Great! Never had that before.  Prescribed antiseptic mouth wash and yogurt 2x a day.  Today I woke up and my bottom lip was so swollen and had cold sores all over it.  Gross!  ENT said I basically have no immune system so I'm catching everything, almost literally.  Saw the GI who said all of this was way too much and to discontinue imuran until further notice.  Frustrating....I would say back to square one but its almost like -6.  Looks like imuran wasn't for me... I think I'll stick with the remicade thank you.
Current meds:  Remicade and Imuran 50mgs
Tried:  Prednisone, sulfasalzine, lialda, antibiotics

I'm sorry all that happened at once!  It's like the regular Crohn's isn't bad enough, right? :)

I think that antibiotics pretty much throws everybody's "flora" off in their body and yeast/candida/thrush happens in the gut, it can happen on skin/genital areas and tongue.

I've dealt with it over the years (never had it before my pregnancy) then I got thrush at the end of my pregnancy. I've had swishing Nystatin in your mouth and you spit it out I think it is, swishing with tea tree oil water and spitting out, brushing my tongue, probiotics (lots), yogurt, more fiber/supplements/vitamins (boosting the immune system), nystatin pills, I've even tried Diflucan a couple of times, different "over the counter" herbal remedies, coconut oil and you name it. It can be a battle, but it can be won! I have to deal w/it again b/c of my last month horrible encounter with Flagyl, but I hope that I am winning; I'm using coconut oil, probiotics, supplements/vitamins and avoiding my food intolerances (avoiding sugary stuff, white stuff and so on).

Are you taking any probiotics? I might suggest you look into finding a good one. We tend to have alot of bad bacteria in our guts and the probiotics help to put the good bacteria back in there. They should also always be taken when you are on antibiotics. You should take a good probiotic at least 2 hours after your antibiotics. I take Primadolphilus Fortify by Natures Way. You can find it in your local health food store. Good luck!
