Hi, I am new to the forum and just wanted to give a background. I am currently struggling with my crohn's disease being active again and thought this would be a good place to get support and advice.

I was first diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 1997 while in college. Intially it was held in check by medications, but started to get progressively worst when in 2002 I had to have my entire colon removed in a two stage surgery called ileal-anal anastomosis. At the time of surgery did a test at time that was suppose to show if I had the possibility to develop Crohn's Disease (it came back that I would have less that 1% chance). I started having problems in 2003 after the surgeries, and through more tests it was determined that I had celiac disease, so I started on the gluten free diet. My doctor's struggled with saying if it was celiac disease for sure and the diagnosed was finally reversed 2006 with negative biopsies and bloodwork. Once again problems started back up and I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in 2007/2008.

I have been on Humira for a year, which got the Crohn's Disease under control until recently. For the past 3-4 weeks I have been fighting all of the fun symptoms that everyone with this disease deals with. I have had bloodwork, CT scan, colonoscopy (still chuckle when I say that, since I have no colon), IV fluids, back on prednisone and flagyl in addition to the Humira. I've cut my hours at work because I have been so wiped out and not getting better. I will find out Tuesday, when I am with my GI doctor what the next step will be.
DIAGNOSED: ulcerative colitis in 1997, crohn's disease in 2008
SURGERIES: entire colon removed 2002 (ileal pouch-anal anastomosis)
MEDICATIONS USED: Prednisone, Remicade, Humira, Azathioprine, Asacol, Rowasa, Flagyl, Ciprofloxacin, Lomotil, Immodium, B-12 injections, Prilosec, Forteo
CURRENT MEDICATIONS: Humira, Prednisone, Flagyl, Prilosec

Hello and Welcome. I'm sorry you have had such a long road with this wonderful disease. I do hope you can find some relief soon and hope that you can find some help and advice here. There are lots of friendly people who have been through the wars of CD, but we have some fun too. Feel free to ask away.

CD 20 years officially, 30 unofficially. 3 resections '93, '95 '97
Managing with strict low residue diet, keeping symptoms to a minimum. All test show small amount of ulceration, still have occasional blockages. But still have a great time with my 2 daughters and husband!

Prednisone, 6MP,Prevacid, B12 shots, Bentyl, Xifaxan.....
