Today i just had my first 4 humira shots. I had them done at my hospital with my IBD nurse watching over me.
Got abit nervous while i was waiting to see her, but once i was in and everything was underway i was fine.
Went through the normal warnings, ie make sure you dont have an infection ect. Went and checked all the pen's expiry date & liquid color ect. Then time for my first injection!
My nurse did the first one for me, and it stung abit, more than i expected. She then looked at me and asked if i felt comfortable doing the next one or did i want to watch another being done. I'm the type of person who has to jump straight in otherwise i get wierd about things! So off i went, and i did the other three shots.
They all stung but my nurse was ace and let me do all the shots in my tummy. She was seriously impressed at how confident i was doing the shots for the first time.
It was fairly easy, i did bleed abit after each shot but i just pressed down on it using the alcohol wipe.
I'm really tired now, and my tummy isnt sore but i can feel it (if you guys know what i mean?). I have a slight headache so will be heading to bed shortly.
All in all, a good day!

I had my first shots (4 of them) on March 18. Much as you described. I get two more tomorrow (yay). I was under the impression that I would see results quickly. But my doctor told me it could be 3 to 6 months before I see improvement. My worst problem right now is fistula. Joint / stomach pain is now secondary, I guess due to my other meds. And I will start weaning off pred (5 mg per week) after my shots tomorrow.

Some of the liquid leaked out of one of my pens. But other than that I learned how, don't like it too much, but glad I have medicine. No headache, no symptom, other than 2 days later my feet went numb. They are still numb and doctors told me it's not due to the humira. Due to too much cipro or flagyl, they say. Odd coincidence. Good luck with it!

NDBC - currently on 50mg pred (crazy man), cipro, flagyl, lialda, Humira
