Did anybody else drink a lot of soda growing up? Knowing how bad it is for your insides, I always thought this could be one of the underlying triggers for my Crohns... The combination of soda, well-water, smoking, and all around unhealthy eating. Just wondering if anybody else drank a lot of soda growing up or if you still drink it now... Personally, I need a nice Dr. Pepper to get me going once in a while.

We had soda from time to time but it was not a staple in our diet. I was always very healthy growing up. Rarely got colds, can't remember ever having the flu. It wasn't until just recently that I started having issues. i drink it occasionally but I do a trade off. For example on Wednesday the whole family got together so to make it easy on my mom we decided to order pizza. Since I knew i was having Pizza and would want soda I had a very light lunch of soup and a slice of cheese. I find by doing this I can for the most part eat what I like. I just have to do it in moderation. I have never smoked and very seldom drink

I never had a glass of soda (called pop where I grew up) until I was 18 years old. With seven kids and a mechanics salary, Mom and Dad could not afford the pop luxury. I think it is too simplisitic to look for any one food related product as the cause of a disease. There are too many of us with CD with such varying backgrounds and dietary structures for me to ever think that one food item could be the cause.
I do know that carbonation is bad on my guts when I am in a flare.
Dx'd '90 (emergency rupture), symptoms ignored long before that, '03 fistulas and bad flagyl reactions, B12 weekly, Pentasa [until I surrender to the bigger meds]
I'm riding on the escalator of life....

Agreed tsito! I've quit and relapsed... I'm going cold turkey again soon. I'm gonna say today will be my last day with a cigarette! (Lets see if it works lol... It worked for 9 months before)
