The Entocort is designed to release exactly where you need it most - the terminal ileum. If you break
open the capsules, the Entocort will dissolve before it can even reach the terminal ileum...absolutely do NOT break them.
Because EC releases mainly in the TI, not only do you get help where you need it, but you also avoid many of the terrible system-wide side effects of prednisone.
Entocort can take a few weeks to reach maximum benefit - but if your Crohn's is NOT mainly in the TI it won't benefit you. Also, it doesn't work for everybody.
Give it a chance, because it is far safer than prednisone.
