Maybe your Doc has patients who have had success with Apriso, Asacol, Pentasa or one of the others which is why he is surprised it's not helping you. All docs have their 'favorite' meds that they like to prescribe and this may be one of his. I've had crohn's over 30 years and have never had any luck with any of the 5-ASAs. The only thing that has ever worked for me consistently is Prednisone, but I think now that I'm older, I have alot more damage and I haven't been in remission for over 6 years.
I just started taking Humira so I'm hoping that it will finally get me back in remission.
Good luck on your pill cam, and don't worry about
whining...we've all done it at one time or another and you are among people who have been where you are at.
Dx'd w/ Crohn's in 1979 at age 13. Bad flare 2008 but no health insurance so I dealt with it. Colonoscopy in July 2009 caused a perforated colon, emergency bowel resection. 2 fistula's, perianal and perivaginal.
Humira, probiotic, a multivitamin, calcium, magnesium, zinc, and fish oil. I also take Tramadol 50 mg and Klonopin (for anxiety) as needed.Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance!
