Need some help.  Recent flare with esophogus and mouth ulcers/eye inflammation has me back on prednisone. Taking 50mg Imuran too since Jan.  Bad D and intestinal cramps, low grade fever.  Hosptization for Ilitieus in Jan.    Allergic to asprin and sulpha drugs, have had an allergic reaction to Asacol and then raised liver enzymes with 6MP (100 mg) so went off both.
Saw GP today and GI next week.  Having C-Diff culture and stool sampels taken to rule out infection.  My GP said the problem I have with Crohn's meds is that all the oral Rx are asprin or sulfa based (allergic!) and then the others are infusion and I dont' have insurance until I qualify in 3 months for Obama's national high risk pool.
Any RX ideas I'm not thinking of?  Any others with ulcers in mouth and esphogus?  My GP did give me "Magic Mouthwash" .. .heard of it?  Any other help aids?
44-single mom diagnosed with Crohn's 2004 via pill camera    6MP kicked into remission (along with modified diet) so went off in 2006.
2009/2010 acute flare and hospitalization - now on Imuran. Currently taking 55 mg prednisone.
Current problem - protruding thrombosed hemorrhoids (external as well as internal).
Fibromyaglia; migraines; herniated disks C5,6 and arthritis in neck; asthma; scolisis in back/arthritis.

since you seem to have no other options, i would go on the SCD diet until the other med options like remicade become more realistic
Crohn's Colitis diagnosed 6/08
Organic SCD since 4/09
Remicade from 6/09 to 4/10
Boswellia + Natren's Healthy Trinity probiotic + Cinnamon + Wild Oregano Oil + vitamin D + zinc

MTX injections? should cost about 10-20 bucks a dose and you take one dose a week

Furthermore there are patient assistance stuff for most crohns meds

Mtx might help, but it may also raise your liver enzymes, if 6mp did.  Both drugs elevated my enzymes.  So, you would need to have lab work while on it, which will also cost a lot without insurance.  Have you looked into programs with Remicade, Humira or Cimzia for people who don't have insurance?  I know they have great co-pay assistance programs for Humira and Cimzia for people who do have insurance, so maybe they also have something for those without it.

Crohn's Disease, Acid Reflux/Gastritis, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, Endometriosis, Arthritis, Depression/Anxiety.  Too many meds to list them all.  =)
