When you have a good day I find you appreciate it more. Last night I was miserable till about 10:00 with cramping and was basically ill about everything. Luckily I got a good nights sleep after using the hot water bottle (my new BFF) and taking my Bentyl to relax my muscles. Today I had my nieces birthday party. She will be 5 years old on Monday. I was able to enjoy the party and even eat some cake!! (very small portion mind you). It was just nice to be there not obcessing about me for a few hours. My stomach felt great and I was able to have a good time. These are the things I hold on to when I feel really crappy. Knowing tomorrow can be a better day and I appreciate it all the more! And bonus I did not have to seek the bathroom out once!! smilewinkgrin

This is why I am trying to continue teaching a light load for summer school- to get normalcy into my life.... you can become all consumed. Every little bit helps. Happy Birthday to your niece!

I think anything that gets you out of the house and takes your mind off this DD helps, both mentally and physically. When I wasn't working I found that I thought about my symptoms way too often for my liking. Now that I'm back to work (office job, not strenuous, but can be a little stressful at times) that it helps tremendously. I don't know if my body adjusts too it, but I go to the bathroom A LOT less when I'm at work, or just out in general.
Dx'd w/ Crohn's in 1979 at age 13. Bad flare 2008 but no health insurance so I dealt with it. Colonoscopy in July 2009 caused a perforated colon, emergency bowel resection. 2 fistula's, perianal and perivaginal.

Humira, probiotic, a multivitamin, calcium, magnesium, zinc, and fish oil. I also take Tramadol 50 mg and Klonopin (for anxiety) as needed.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance!

I agree Greyeyedblond, if I'm sick but push myself to go to work my symptoms are usually a lot less severe! It's so much worse when you're in a 'poor me' mood. My stomach will churn and grumble a lot more when I'm paying attention to it.

And tewcute that is beautiful. It's so easy to look on the negative side of things, I never appreciated good health until I didn't have it. Even now it's so easy to take it for granted when i'm in remission!

I love my good days! I am in clinical remission, but...I still have more bad days than good. But having a good day in the middle of all the bad days are just too wonderful. Last Monday was one of those good days, and I try to take advantage of them as much as possible. I go outside, laugh more, and just feel so peaceful. Just wish they happened more often.
