I am 5'10. Been thin for most of my life. Last year before a Crohns diagnosis (which Im still on the fence about) I weighed about 125. I have lost about 20 pounds, which is A LOT for someone already as skinny as me, in the past 2-3 months. I NEED to gain weight, but I want to be smart about it, and also be very mindful of my Crohns.

I already drink one ensure a day to make sure I get some vitamins with my diet which mostly consists of soup, cereal, yogurt and lunch meat sanwiches, but am wondering what can pack on pounds.

Help is appreciated, thanks for listening-

I'm in the same boat. You can try increasing your ensure or do what I am doing if you can tolerate milk-have a big ice cream malted with lot's of whipped cream. I still have not seen an increase but at least no loss. Another is to take a banana, peanut butter, yogurt and make a drink out of that. Much better health wise and lot's of calories too! And try eating every 2 hours-that is the hardest for me. I swear I am eating more now than before this last flare and I still cannot get the weight up.

I make my own smoothies so I know I am getting nutrition but can also pack in some liquid calories. I usually add juice or milk to all of them, for the fat I either use Peanut Butter or Olive Oil, some fruit, and plain yogurt for protein and fat ( I don't get low fat or non fat yogurt). From my calculations they are usually 400 - 500 calories in one.

Olive Oil is very good for you and when you blend it in with everything else you can't taste it, a good dose of healthy fat!

You can get an extra few grams of Crohn's-friendly fat in your diet by taking Omega-3 Fish Oil several times per day. Capsules are 1g each and I try to take one with each meal and one before bed (so about 4 per day). It's not much, but over time it may help with both the weight and the inflammation!

I was in a similar boat for years with my Crohn's. I just could not put weight on. In the end, the key for me was getting my symptoms into remission. Once the Crohn's was under control I started putting on weight. I now way as much as I ever did - about 167 lbs (I'm 5'10"). MY key for getting Crohn's was diet. I tried the SCD diet but found I did much better on an even more restrictive diet. I eat very little in the way of carbs, but my disease is totally under control and I take no drugs. I really encourage you to go hardcore on figuring a diet that works for you. Try SCD, LOFFLEX, FODMAPS or something else and don't shy away from going very restricted. It will impact your lifestyle, but getting your health under control is 100% worth it.

can you tolerate milk?  i lost a ton of weight and started drinking milkshakes- baskin robbins have between 900 and 1300 calories.  of course i wasn't just eating crap but that was a very easy way to pack on a lof of calories- ensure are only 250 each- nothing in the weight gain dept...
