So I started VSL#3 packets on Friday. I am so much better after just 2 nights of taking it! I have responded well to probiotics before but not like this. Everything else is equal I have not changed anything else and even decreased my prednisone at the same time. Today was the first time in weeks with no bleeding and the most normal I have gone to the bathroom since this flare started.

I am hoping this is not a coincidence or short lived progress. My friend who is a pharmacist recommended this to me because she has so many customers that swear by it, but I really didn't expect it to help this much.

Anyone else had this kind of luck with VSL#3? Did it last? Or was it temporary improvement?
Diagnosed with Crohn's in 1998, father has UC we were diagnosed at the same age.

Currently on 15 mg Prednisone, 4g Sulfasalzine, VSL#3, B complex, Calcium, Magnesium, D3 and Passion Flower. Previously on Remicade, just stopped Humira after 9 months, wasn't working.

No surgeries so far.

I have not used VSL#3, but when I added probiotics into my med mix, my bms went from 4-6 watery stools a day to 1-2 more formed stools a day. So for me, the probiotics have been a blessing. Glad they are working for you too. Hugs~

I don't use VSL#3, but I've tried a few other brands - and have found one that really seems to do the job. If I forget to take it one night, I can really tell the difference the next day (gassy, more BM's). Sounds like you might have found the stuff for you!

Had a whole year wondering why NO drugs worked for me, only to find out it was probably c-diff the entire time. Now I'm retrying all the meds and finding success!

I take Align and it really works for me. But when I have taken other brands they have made things much worse. That is why when probiotics come up as a topic I like to stress that we all need to find the BRAND that works for us. Every brand is different and what works for one may not work for another.

Managing with strict low residue diet, keeping symptoms to a minimum. All test show small amount of ulceration, still have occasional blockages. But still have a great time with my 2 daughters and husband!

Prednisone, 6MP,Prevacid, B12 shots, Bentyl, Xifaxan.....
