I read on here awhile back that some of you use a short term regimen of prednisone for a flare. It was for about a 2 week period.  Can you please let me know what that is.  Thanks
Diagnosed with CD 2006.  Refused to take meds until recently started Colazal.
Currently on Prednisone 40mg. Tapering down, now on 20mg.
Colazal 3xday, Antioxidant strips
 Off of the Prednisone!!

I can't remember what it's called, (multipak?, dosepak?) but it's 5 days. It comes in a blisterpak and has day 1 (5-5mg pills) day 2 (4-5mg pills) and so on until the 5th day you are down to 5 mg and the next day you go off.

I've used it twice and it didn't help at all. I don't think the initial dose was enough to kick start it, but it did reduce the symptoms a little while I was on it.

Maybe it does come in a 2 week form also...I've never had that one.
Dx'd w/ Crohn's in 1979 at age 13. Bad flare 2008 but no health insurance so I dealt with it. Colonoscopy in July 2009 caused a perforated colon, emergency bowel resection. 2 fistula's, perianal and perivaginal.

Humira, probiotic, a multivitamin, calcium, magnesium, zinc, and fish oil. I also take Tramadol 50 mg and Klonopin (for anxiety) as needed.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance!

I've used a 5-day burst to get an asthma flare under control, but for my CD I've only ever used a longer plan, like 1-3 months.

Medrol dose pack is what my rheumy and GI have both given me and mine is always 6 pills on the first day (4 mg each) and then you drop down
by a pill each day.
