Have you seen your doctor lately? It could be gallbladder or something else entirely. You need to know what you are dealing with first.

Managing with strict low residue diet, keeping symptoms to a minimum. All test show small amount of ulceration, still have occasional blockages. But still have a great time with my 2 daughters and husband!

I agree I think you need to speak with a doctor about this. It might be something else. If it is happen about once a month and if you are female I am wondering if this might be a period issue. IBD and periods do not mix well.
Another thing I would say is when you are having this problem think about not eat a whole meal at once (do not do meals...graze throughout the day- do not let yourself get to the hunger point).  Go with liquids.  ...Just trying to brainstorm more ideas to see if anything would work with this situation.

I don't think it could be an obstruction because you are at least passing wind. With an obstruction you have pain that comes in waves much like labor pains, cannot pass air or stool out of either direction, extremely bloated and have nausea. The pain is so bad there is no way you can stay home as it is so severe. I too am thinking it might be something else like gallbladder issues. Good luck!
