Does anyone have any experience with the medication Apriso?  I was on Remicade for 5 years, had to go off Remicade due to side effects. Was off medication for a year and developed a recurrence of a peri-rectal abscess as well as a new recto-vaginal fistula. Had 2 setons drains placed and have  been on Humira since February. The Humira is not working to heal the fistulas and giving me respiratory / sinus side effects and actually making me feel worse with the Crohns.  I had my first crohn's flare last month, never experienced that before because my disease was localized just to the peri-rectal area. My GI doc has decided to stop the humira, and has prescribed an oral medication Apriso.  He has made me aware that this medication will not do anything to continue to heal the peri-rectal area and my GI surgeon says that any additional surgery is not beneficial at this point and just to maintain the area with the setons.  Just wondering if anyone knows about Apriso.  Thank you.

I've been on apriso now for over a year. It replaced the azulfadine pills i was taken. It's basically the same drug but a lot less of it to take. I used to take 4 pills 4xdaily of the azulfadine. Now i only need to take 4 of the apriso. I've had no side effects from it or anything and i tolerate it just fine. I've been on humira, remicade, cimzia, methotrexate, and 6mp. All the hardcore drugs. Now i'm on apriso, azothioprine and alopurinol (sp?) sorry for the spelling lol i've only been on it for two weeks so i won't feel any benefit until at least 4 to 6. So i'm waiting patiently. I also have had surgery 2 yrs ago. I was ressected at the terminal ileum and lost my appendix (although i don't know why, it never did anything to me ) lol and also the ileocecal valve. I had a temp ileostomy for about 3 months then i was reversed. 7 months later crohn's was back hardcore at the ressection site and so on we went onto more hardcore drugs. I feel like it never ends. I cannot ever get into remission. Just sucks. Sorry i know i was supposed to help you with your ? and i ended up venting about my problems. I know it can be scary all these drugs but what else are we to do? I hope i've helped in some way and I hope you feel better :)
