i went into hospital with stomach pains.. had a laproscomoy with turned into an open appendoctomy because i had burst appendix and peritonitis and all the pus was in my stomach and pelvis.. had a drain in my pelvis which was eventually taken out. then i went home after 9 days in hospital but still had pain under the bigger scar. i had an ultrasound before going home which did show one collection of fluid but doctors said my body would most likely heal it without treatment. i went home and went to the doctors the next day to get my stitches out, after i had the stitches out, fluid started leaking out of a open bit on the bigger scar. we left it for a couple of hours but it didnt stop leaking, we rang the hospital who told us to go back in. i had a temperature so they kept me over night. the next morning i had a ct scan which infact showed i had 5 collections of fluid, quite big ones but 4 of them were all behind different organs in my stomach so werent visible on ultrasound.. i had an epidural and an emergency operation few hours later. i went down to icu for a week, and slowly started to get better. i went home after a month, but a week later i was back with pains. another ct scan showed another small abscess on my left ovary and i had an inflammed right kidney, antibiotics managed to treat this abscess and i was only in hospital for a week. the pain started to come back in my left lower side, but now the pain has spread into my whole pelvis and is starting to feel tender on my stomach, more so the left side. is it something to worry about?? or just side effects from the surgery?? the surgery scars - 1 inch scar from camera, 3 inch for appendix removal and eventually drain site for 2nd op, and a 12 inch scar all the way up abdomen. many thanks for any replies :-) confused

Hi JAG.ox and welcome to Healingwell's Crohns Disease forum. You have a a pretty rough go of it lately, with so many surgeries and hospitalizations. It takes awhile to heal from these surgeries. I would keep an eye on things for a bit more, but if they continue or get worse then do contact your doctor.

I had a laproscopic kidney surgery about 9 1/2 weeks ago. This surgery was supposed to be a 2 day hospital stay, then out of work for 3-4 weeks. But because of my Crohns and previous surgeries that I have had, I am still out of work. So remember we don't always heal as quickly as non Crohns folks. You could have some scar tissue build up from the surgery too, and sometimes that in itself can be painful.

But as I said before, keep and eye on it and if it gets worse, do see the doc.
