I'm new to Healing Well. I did a google search for remicade and weight gain and found myself here. Nice to meet everyone. I am very much concerned about recent weight gain which I feel is combined with my recently increased dosage of remicade. I've been on the drug over a year. I did gain some of the weight back, which was needed; however, within a month's time I've managed to get heavier than my ideal weight before the active flares and disease. So yes, I'm a tad bit concerned especially when I'm still eating a very strict diet and still have pain due to fistulas.... I've also experienced an abnormal menstrual cycle- like it comes twice a month or stays and never goes away. All of these changes since the advancement from 5mg to 10 mg per kg. My doctors keep saying that the drug is not to blame, but I'm not so sure?

Any help out there will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Healing Well, Wendigem! I'm glad that you found the post I made a while back documenting weight gain as a side effect for some taking Remicade. You could always print it out and show your doctor unless he's the type that doesn't like patients reading on the internet. Quite a few women have mentioned problems with their menstral cycles because of CD. However, in my opinion you should see your GYN about the irregular bleeding. Not to alarm you, but there have been reports of women receiving Remicade that have developed cervical dysplasia. I can't find the link right now. So I think seeing your GYN might be a good thing to do.
