Someone suggested I try topical peppermint oil to aid in my tummy and back pains. I bought some 100% peppermint oil from the scented oil section of Whole Foods. I mixed a few drops with lotion, and ahhh.... pain relief! I thought I'd share this advice because it helps soothe abdominal, back, and other joint pains.

Also, I've heard that some people ingest peppermint oil capsules and that has helped with tummy pain. Has anyone used this/heard of this? Where could one find these capsules? Is it safe?

I'm interested in this as well. I used to use drop under my tongue to help soothe belly pain and it usually really helped. Before I was diagnosed I would take a thermos of peppermint tea with a few drops of oil in it to high school with me in the morning because it seemed to be the only thing that helped me get through the rough mornings (and keep me in class so I didn't have to run to the bathroom every fifteen minutes). I should start doing that again. The only problem I ever had with it was that it made my acid reflux worse (which I've had FOREVER)...however, if it was in pill form, it probably wouldn't do that.

I have not used the Peppermint Oil, but I always keep peppermints in my purse or drawer at work. It seems to help settle my tummy on bad days. Hugs!
