I was suppose to start Humira this week but after going to the GI clinic Tuesday they feel Remicaid would be better because of perianal disese and rectal fistulas. I have another post up regarding how scared I am but the question I have today is: does Remicaid have a number you can call and speak to a nurse like Humira does? Being that I thought I was starting Humira this week I called the number to get some answers and they were very helpful. They also sent out a starters kit with a practice pen and travel kit and are sending the thing to dispose the needles into (which I need to cancel). Humira has a 24 hour nurse hotline, does remicaid have this?
38 year old female and a proud mother of 8 kids (5 still living at home) and a very supportive Husband
Found out I had crohn's disease about 4 years ago, I haven't had proper treatment since :-(
Have had rectal abscess and now a rectal fistulas, Medications I have taken for crohn's is..... Asacol and Entocort EC......Currently taking....Asacol
Suppose to start Remicaid October 2010.....I'm so scared :-(
Seton drain was put in on May 4, 2010....Two more Seton drains put in June 15th :-(
I also suffer from very bad anxiety and panic attacks for over 10 years (after my father passed away)
I have tried almost every medication for it but nothing worked or I had a bad side effect so for the last 6 years have been on xanax 1mg., 3x's a day

I checked the official Remicade site and didn't see a phone number, but there is a great program/site called RemiStart/AccessOne:

http://www.centocoraccessone.com/centocoraccessone/pages/remicade/patientassist/intro.jsp

Phone number: 888-222-3771.

I don't know if it's only available in the US - or if they service other countries too, but it is a great program that helps to cover some of the cost of the infusions (whether you have insurance or not - they pay you back on a sliding scale depending on your insurance and income level).  They will also call you to remind you of visits and/or check up on you after an infusion.

It is worthwhile to give them a call and see if they can give you any information.  They are always really helpful and friendly when I have called and will mail you paperwork to have your doctor fill out in order to be part of the program.

You will do great!! :-)
