I just took my fourth dose of 20 mg of prednisone.  Since starting on Saturday, my cramps have gotten better.  Slight cramping for a few seconds that quickly passes--no need to take anti-spasmodic.  Still having very soft to D bms several times a day.

This morning I didn't have to get out of the bed and head to the  bathroom.  I didn't have a bm until I had been up for two hours.  Weight has been stable for two days.

Does this sound like the prednisone is doing what it should.  I have never taken it before so don't know what to expect.  Will I continue to improve?  GI wants me to taper by 5mg every two weeks.  Do you think that is too fast.  Has anyone tapered by 2.5 mg every week or every two weeks.

Sorry to have so many questions.

I am continuing to take 4 apriso and LDN cream 4.5mg each day.

It sounds exactly like what the prednisone should be doing. Most people have no trouble tapering by 5's until they reach 10mg and then some have to go a bit slower if they have been on prednisone for a long period of time. I wouldn't worry about it yet. If you find that you have a problem then you can adjust.

Congrats on feeling a bit better, enjoy your VACA!

That's what it's doing for me. I'm two weeks in tomorrow and I'm still loving it. The only thing it's really doing to me is limiting sleep but I'll take it over the alternative.

I say enjoy the vacation and be happy about the timing, sounds like it's going to work out great.

Bowel spasms is an ongoing issue for me. What do you take for anti-spasm?

I have been taking hyoscyamine for spasms. It had been very effective--less so since this flare started. Thanks again for the responses. I mistakenly thought the prednisone was a quick fix like when it is used for asthma, etc. Didn't realize it was a slower process for Crohn's although I'm happy that my cramps are less. I would love to have a normal BM and gain some weight, but I guess that takes time. I have not had any increase in appetite, if anything I think I've had less of an appetite the past couple of days Over the past two years I have lost 15 lbs., all my muscle tone and look like an old woman. I guess I'm just longing to feel better.
You folks are terrific for sharing all this information with those of us who are new to this whole thing. Thank you so much.
