The prednisone actually has me constipated. Already taking more medication than I care to, I figured some fiber was the ticket so I picked up some fiberone cereal. Tried a little piece and it was great dry so I sat down in front of the TV with the box in my lap picking at it.

Bet you know how that turned out, probably should have just put the right amount in a bowl.

Live and learn right? Thank goodness I can work from home.

The insoluble fiber from grains can be hard on sensitive intestines. If you are ever tempted for fiber again perhaps try the soluble fiber from psyllium such as Metamucil or Citrucel.

Don't you wish there was something yummy we could snack on like normal people while zoning out. Popcorn, out. Nuts, out. Everything good, out......

I just bought some brown rice chips. I know, sounds so delicious and tempting, eh? lol

Actually, they're seasoned with parmesan and sundried tomato with the perfect saltiness, and they're all natural too, so they are pretty tasty and healthy.

I also made a bad mistake with a snack that I thought was healthy. I like bagel chips and I didn't feel like eating a meal so I sat down and ate a small bag full. The next day I was doubled over in pain. Not to mention the diarrhea that followed.

Before my resection I had no trouble with popcorn, didn't hurt and actually kinda helped bulk up the D a bit.

Now, it kills me! I have tried it twice and both times spent the next day or 2 in bed barely able to move. I have no will power so I won't even have it in the house for the kids, it's too tempting when I smell it... :(

Also, I use stool softners nightly to help with things are too slow. That might be something better to try next time. My GI said when adding fiber into your diet, you should always do it VERY slowly or it could cause more problems. Just a thought!

Yes, problems were caused. Yesterday was a really good reminder not to let my attention lapse. I'd like to think I'll remember that one.

I'll give the softner a try. Better to take it in the evening I would guess? That way it may work by morning?

I take them at bedtime every night as I tend towards constipation than d. Now they might take a day or two to work, but they will work. Another thing I use on those tougher days is Senekot. Its a natural laxative and is more gentle on the system. Hugs!

I take one Prodiem fibre supplement just before bed every night (since about 8 yrs ago when my GI suggested I take a fibre supplement daily and indefinitely), it has definitely helped but drinking a lot of water daily is key...it's good to have prunes/prune juice on hand since with having CD you can go either way (D to constipation) and incase of the little mistakes like taking in too much fibre and getting yourself constipated...don't worry, I'm sure you're not the first person to make this mistake, hang in there.

The fibres are always swelling a lot in the intestines. Ouch! And if you don't drink a lot of water when having fibres, ouch! Ouch!!!!
