I don't remember ever hearing about a connection with crohn's and nerve problems/neuropathy. I've developed a little bit of numbness in both heals, and some numbness that comes and goes on the side of one thigh. I thought maybe I just pinched a nerve (ok maybe I'm in denial that I might have yet another problem). Guess I need to see my doc again.

How many people here have problems with their nerves? Am I the only one that didn't realize it could be a crohn's issue? Is it progressive? Is there any treatment or does it just suck to be us even more?

Appreciate any thoughts on this, especially if you've seen a doc for this.

There are several people here who have neuropathy problems. Not sure if it was drug induced or not though. I'm sure someone will be along in a bit to give you more info.

Flagyl/Cipro could be possibly be one cause, or even possibly low B12. I definetly would get in to see the doc and discuss this. Good luck!

I have neuropathy in my feet from taking the flagyl way back in February to March 2010. Also had it in the tips of my fingers, but so far that has subsided. I've been to a neuroglist who tested me, and so far cannot tell me if my feel will ever come back. I take 50 mg of Nortiptyline HCL at bedtime with a tylenol. at the moment and the dr. tells me we can up the medication. I can sleep that goodness, but during the day it can be painful/uncomfortable. Thank goodness the medicine is for depression and I think it helps with that because I would really be down if I didn't take them!

I did take some flagyl over a year ago. Unfortunately I can't remember when I started noticing the heel numbness. The thigh one that comes and goes has been since Christmas time. I don't think B12 is an issue with crohn's colitis, is it? I thought that was small bowel where that gets absorbed. Thankfully there hasn't been any pain involved. It just feels weird and gives me something else to worry about.

B12 absorbed in terminal ilium, definitely huge risk with Crohn's. Also low Calcium can cause this. Two things to check right off the bat, anyway...

Not still on prednisone, sorry I have just not updated my info.  Nothing has shown up on any of my latest tests for diabetes and I don't have those symptoms.  My cd has not been in the terminal ileum, just colon so far. I'm not great at taking calcium supplements but am currently on them.
