Experts say dogs sniff rear ends as a way of checking health. A practice that goes back to their wolf pack days. I too can tell how my health is doing by the odorous portion of my daily routine . If I pay close attention I can tell a day or so before the really bad times roll . Even with a close eye on diet , I have bad and good times. No need to blame what I ate for a bad day or two or weeks in some cases . My insides produce every scent from incomprehensible to unimaginable . The trained nose can predict if travel is risky or if I have a window of opportunity to drive a long distance in relative comfort . Yep , Old Blue can be a tried and true instructor in learning the sense of scents . I have only one small thing left to figure out about him though. Because a dogs brain has 40% more space dedicated to the sense of smell and can smell 1000 to 10,000 time better than a human, Why, Oh Why does he have to stick his nose up my backside to get the job done ? I did not mean to imply that dogs smell better than humans , well maybe some humans but , you know what I mean.

I too can tell how my health is doing by the odorous portion of my daily routine . There are days that it would just be a crime to subject public restrooms to my malodorous visits. It would certainly be unfortunate for me if they did make it a crime, malodorous mischief?, malicious malodor, odor with the intent to kill?

See Sniper I knew there was something going on a couple of weeks ago, when I posted about the
horrible of amonia I had with bm's. A couple days later I'm partially obstructed. Mmmmm Maybe
dogs have got it right!!

I know how things are with my boy the same way. When he's sick, the smell could knock a buzzard off a crap wagon at 40 paces

So does this mean that when two Crohnies meet they have to circle around each other and sniff one another's hindquarters?

I don't think dogs have to stick their nose in our butts but they LIKE the smell...... That's why they roll in the stuff and are happy as clams afterwards. They'll eat it too!! I know, TMI.

You guys know that they are training dogs to sniff out cancer in the same way they do drugs and explosives . Now thats really , Lab work . Just think if you could be DX without a scope. Ill take a cold nose up the wazoo over prep any day . That would be like the docs stethoscope which I think is kept in the fridge until it is placed on my back causing duck bumps every time. So now it will be, 'Doc, can you please warm the dogs nose before the exam ?"

Yeah I say mine smells something like blueberry vinegar. I have to practically burn down the bathroom to get the smell out. Leaving it lingering in the starbucks restroom is funny as hell.
