I have had itchy ankles off and on for three years, at night only. I recently learned that histamines are produced by the body at night to aid in sleep. My itchy ankles seemed to coincide with travel. Over-the-counter motion sickness medications are antihistamines generally. I had continual ankle itch after coming home from a trip, but this went away one day that I took the over-the-counter motion sickness medication. My conclusion was that the over-the-counter motion sickness medication, an antihistamine, was somehow related to the itching. Using a corticosteroid helped the itching go way.
