I know that we all tolerate thinkgs differently, but I just wanted to share my recent scope experience in case it might help anyone.

I used Moviprep for the first time.  I absolutely loved it, well loved it as much as you can love a prep.  I had no nausea, no vomitting, no cramping, and I felt good the next morning before my scope.

For my scope sedation I received propofol.  It was my first time using it, and I loved it.  I woke up in recovery 10 after my scope...wide awake able to carry on a conversation and remember it!  :)  I was able to get myself dressed, and I didn't feel hungover at all.   So next time, definitely gonna use that prep again and make sure I'm getting that sedation.  :)

It always helps to eat very lighly a few days (at least 2) before anyone starts their prep, it cuts way down on painful cramping when there's less food in your system and clears out quicker for that reason as well....glad your ordeal went well for you!

Totally agree pb4. They actually had a fiber free breakfast, lunch, and dinner plan I could use on prep day. But I was like, you guys are crazy! :) I stayed with my liquids only.

can u share a bit more about moviprep? are u in Canada by any chance? how much did you have to drink? how frequently? what did it taste like? I had a horrible experience with my prep three days ago and have sworn not to use pico salax again. any more info you can share about moviprep would be greatly appreciated.

p.s., great to hear someone had a pretty good prep/scope experience! :) that keeps me hopeful for next time.

Great, chroniemomx2!!!! If you're gonna have sedation that propofol is the cat's PJ's, isn't it??? Are you still w/"us" in Michigan and still the same colorectal doing your scopes? Or are you elsewhere w/a new gastro or colorectal??

Now! I sure as the devil hope that the results of the scope are as upbeat and good as the experience of the scope and prep!!!! Good luck and God bless!!!

Becktoria, at 4 pm the night before the scope I had to drink 8 oz. of the mix every 15-30 minutes.   There was a total of 32 oz.   Then again at 8 pm the same thing.  So there was a total of 64 oz., but it was 32 then 4 hrs later another 32 so it was really tolerable.   It didn't taste that good, but I just plug my nose and guzzle the 8 oz. then rinse my mouth out with water and take a drink of something else all while still having my nose plugged.  :)

Nanners, he said things looked good!  :)

C2, we are in KY now.  We HAD to move last Aug.  Roger is now working at the Corvette plant.  His plant closed in Nov.  He really loves the plant, so that is great!  My new gastro is one that Larkin recommended, and I LOVE him.

That is great that it turned out well!! Congrats!!
As for the prep- sounds good if it leaves you feeling decent afterward! My doc has me do a pretty easy prep too, so I am spoiled. First the dulcolax, then I mix half bottle of Miralax with 32 oz Gatorade- (no red colors) and drink it every 15-30 minutes till gone, then again the morning of. He also says when its clear I can stop!! No cramps, no nausea, and best of all, you absolutely cannot taste the Miralax, just the Gatorade.
Gotta love the Propofol eh?

So glad you had it easy! I felt the same way with my first Miralax and gatorade prep. It helps to take some of the dread away. I am definitely asking about your sedative as I have always been sedative sensitive (toss my cookies even with a local!) and I can't think straight for a LONG time after.

Habs, yes definitely ask! I always throw up after the usual sedative they use, and sleep the rest of the day. Basically, I don't remember a whole day. But with the propofol, I had no problems!!

I have had issues with all the preps ever except the pill preps which are no longer on the market but yes I agree with the propofol. They almost didnt use that on me last time however I told them that in the past when I didnt get that one I woke up during the proceedure and was screaming and it was heard int he waiting room. There was a shortage of it back in Sept when I had my scope I often wondered if it was due to the salmonella outbreak (or whatever bacterial outbreak it was) in eggs since eggs are used in the production of the anesthetic. Hence its white color and needing to be discarded 24 hours after the bottle is punctured. This is one of the meds used to sedate animals at least at the animal hospital I worked for when they do surgeries and dental it is the med that sedates them enough to place the breathing tube etc and it is fast acting so there is a reversal med if I remember right but it wears off fairly quickly which is nice

My understanding is that there is no reversal agent for propofol, one of the reasons most states require its administration ONLY by an anesthesiologist.

chroniemomx2, I'm so glad that Roger likes the new plant! Danielle was holding her breath for awhile about Bay City Powertrain but things are looking good for the time being now. knock, Knock, KNOCK. Given she started at Nodular which they closed, then Malleable which they closed, then the experimental which they closed ..... Nicole graduated this year. She's going into graphic arts. Ashley was a freshman this year.

How GREAT that you like this gastro? colorectal? Dr Larkin recommended!!! I'm so happy for you. How are you doing? How are the girls doing?

Larkin talked me into using HalfLytely my last scope and it worked well for me and was my least stressful prep since Magnesium Citrate.

Wow! Your granddaughters have grown up!! That is great about Danielle's plant. They got some new work, right? Oh how we would love to get back to MI! We sold our house for $20,000 LESS than we bought it for 10 years previously...crazy!

I am keeping my colorectal surgeon that I have in Saginaw. I go see him when I'm home. There is nobody in town here. i would have to go down to Vanderbilt, which I'm not opposed to but because I know and trust Sohl, and he knows my history, I am more comfortable with just keeping him.

I've had a rougher than normal crohn's year, but i'm sure the stress of moving and everything played into that. The last month has been going better. The girls are doing great! They have made new friends and are in an awesome school and have done so well! Thanks for asking! How have you been doing?

I dread the thought of ever having to move again! I just don't think I could do it.

Oh m'gawd!!! You REALLY took a hit w/your house here. I'm so sorry to hear that. Its great to hear the girls have a great school and are happy there tho.

My Crohn's and I continue to remain on a friendly basis, me not aggrivating it and it not irritating me. The lungs are a problem. I'm on 02 at night and need if for a good part of the day if it is a busy one. Developed A fib but its responded completely to meds and the meds have been kind to me - so overall??? I'm doing darn good!!! Thank goodness. But, you know, the good Lord looks after fools and he has always blessed me.

Haven't been to The Outback in a while. Will have to remedy that!!! But have made several visits to First Wok. I've got the two granddaughters hooked on First Wok so every now and then I pick them up from school and we rush in to beat the end of the buffet hours. Almost next door to Jimmy John's in Hemlock there is a party store/deli that sells some wicked wraps and sandwiches AND a MARVELOUS pasta salad by the pound. I've been neglecting Jimmy John's to pick up goodies at Chandlers instead. They are on the east end of the same building as Jimmy Johns.
