I decided after reading about coffee and it's positive effects
It has on men with prostate problems, I would start drinking coffee
I have not had a cup in 7 years, the last time I had one was at star bucks
And I felt like my intestine were going to bust wide open
But I went to McDonalds this morning and have had no side effects yet from
My crohns, was curious how many drink coffee with crohns and does it cause a flare
Thanx tigerpawn

I do, but cut way down after diagnosis. I'm a 2-3 cup per day and it doesn't seem to bother me a bit...but we're all different.

I love the smell of coffee but hate the taste. So no I am not a coffee drinker. When my guts behave I will have caffienated soda once in awhile. Hugs!

I LOVE coffee and drink 2-3 cups per day and don't have any stomach issues with it.

Makes me go initially in the morning but then it stops shortly after, I think!

Coffee doesn't agree with me. I get looser BMs and it makes me go more often.

I cannot Live without my coffee.  I drink 2-3 large ones everyday.  As long as I eat before my morning coffee all is good. :)

Ahhhh, I really miss my coffee, especially the cafe Au lait from my favorite place, Cafe Du Monde in the French Quarter. Alas, as soon as I drink half a cup, I am running for the bathroom and in a flare by the next morning. It may be the dairy in it but regardless, it also causes me problems with my hear rhythm so coffee is out of the question for me.

Yep, makes no difference, caffinated or decaffinated, I drink one cup and piddle 10; drink several cups and the intestines are cleaned out as well.

Neither CocaCola Classic, Caffiene-Free Coke Classic, nor tea do either to me. Go figure. Its gotta be something in the coffee itself and not the caffiene.

As I am reading this I am sipping on my second iced coffee of the day.  I can't live without my coffee.  On the days I go without, I don't notice any difference in my CD.

I'm so jealous of those of you who can tolerate coffee. That's one of many things I miss, but just a few sips for me and I'm cramping and waddling my way to the bathroom.

Coffee messes with me as well. I had to switch to decaf coffee and tea, but sometimes, hot beverages set me off as well.

However, the upside to that problem is that when you get stuck on pain meds that stop you up, you know what to do to fix that as well!!!

Give me my half-caff with rice milk and I'm ready to go! (three or four times), but it's so worth it!

I used to have coffee everyday but I have switched to caffeine tea since my DX. I can't take too many chances in my tenuous condition. BUT I do enjoy a cappuccino now and then from one of the local italian cafes near me.

There is a huge difference in the quality of the coffee brewed in retail stores. This can have a tremendous effect on how you feel after you drink it. First off is what you/they put in it.. Then you have how it is made drip, perc, espresso etc, how long has it been sitting around in a pot (diner and donut chains), and most of all the coffee itself. Some beans are very acidic, others may be overly dark roasted, some contain more caffeine than others.. all this adds to how our bodies deal with it. The darker the bean the less caffeine for those of you that have to run to the bathroom. Also drip and french press coffee has more caffeine than percolator. The more it cooks the less caffeine. Acid is the other culprit. Go to your local gourmet bean store and try some of the less acidic beans. Starbucks is burnt, not so good beans (I love espresso so I KNOW what good dark italian roasted beans are supposed to taste like) I have felt lousy every time I have ever had Starbucks. I know so many people love them and they have stores EVERYWHERE but if you don't add all the flavoring, sweeteners, and frills, it is a boring burnt cup of coffee and this is not just my humble opinion.

I used to be able to drink it daily.  Now after several years it seems to give me too much trouble, and that's even with a painkiller that slows things down for me.  So, I just have it for special treats when I'm willing to live with the consequences.  Cafe du monde...I'm so jealous.  I love cafe au lait.

dfdavedf - Oh yes, turtle soup from Commanders! They make the absolute BEST! Sure wish I could EAT it! LOL! I think I miss the Cafe Au Lait more though! Nothing like a hot cup of Cafe Au lait and an order of beignets with extra powdered sugar! Wishful thinking...
Heatmiser- I love it too! I still have withdrawals 4 years later!

I drink a cup a day!! Though I brew mine a lot weaker then most stores. Dunkin Donuts doesn't bother me, but Starbucks usually does...I think they're coffee is too strong.

I can have coffee except when I'm flaring- then it makes me crampy and I instantly have to go to the bathroom- same as ice cream. Suppose it could be the cream but it's irrelevant since I don't do black coffee..I'd rather go without.

I am sipping my Dunkin Donuts right now. But I have only 1-2 cups a day and never when I am in a mini flare or full flare. Like Tooth said, I can not handle Starbucks or any of the strong specialty coffes and I found flavored coffees bother me too.
Oddly, I can drink milk, but milk in my coffee bothers me so I use artificial creamer.

I would be heartbroken if I couldn't have my coffee every morning! :) I drink 3 cups of half-caff per day and have no problem.

I wish that I could still have coffee, but it's not worth it anymore, It will make me sick the whole day, my son just gave me a new Starbucks card because he knows how much I love coffee.

I used to be a big coffee drinker. But now Mcdonalds coffee is one of the only ones I can tolorate. Anything like starbucks, dutch bro's, or even my own Folgers (with french vanilla) will send me RUNNING for the can. I am liking the blended one's from McDonald's now on occasion
