The Portability Act allows for less concern about Pre-ex. It means that the insurance you have now should not apply a pre-ex limit if you had coverage somewhwere else prior without an extended lapse between and for an expected amount of time. Check with your insurance carrier to verify your coverage.
As for the limited symptoms...that's me. i had very bad symptoms (I ruptured) 20 years ago. Since then I have been an extremely mild CD case. However, like others said, I have the extra intestinal issues. i believe that keeping the CD in remission is my main goal in life. I take Pentasa only for maintenance (considered one of the more minor meds now) along with another med to help with my post surgical symptom. I have refused the option to take the biologics as I do not feel that my CD is in that state. I think that doing this small bit of effort has kept me a mild crohnnie and plan to continue that as long as I can.
That being said, everyone is different. You really need to speak with your doc and see what all of your options are...and keep reading here because there are many with good advice even many who have had multi year remissions and mild symptoms like us.
