I had resection surgery 3 weeks ago. I just went to see my GI doctor today for a follow up appt. She doesnt want to put me on any type of maintenance drugs. She says that I will have a scope done every 6 months or so to look for reacurring ulcerations, and that there is a 75% chance of ulcerations occuring within a year. Once something comes up on the scope, then I will be put back on a medication. Shes not saying that their going to wait for symptoms to come back, she said they would be looking for signs on the microscpic level.
Ive been on this forum for a while now, and it seems ive heard alot of people say thats its very important to get back on medication after surgery. I kind of figured that was the point of maintenance drugs.
So im confused right now. Has anyone else not gone back on drugs after their surgery. My doctor and surgeon work out the same office with about 4 other doctors and 3 other surgeons and are associated with a large hospital, so its not like their not reputiable. My surgeon has 22 years experience, and my doctor is the director of the department, so she has the most experience out of the other doctors. So they must know what they're talking about.
