Heya Again Gang,
Back in 2000 I had a vary simillar problem I am having now, I began having pain in my solar plexus area which led to severe intestinal pain and painful bm's,
It would take 4 or so years for them to fiure out it was my pancreas at the time, then 2 more years later to find crohns, but I digress.
I am currently sufffering the same solar plexus pain, it is weird, the familliar feeling coming back to me 10 years later.
My blood tests for my lipase are almost always between 10 and 25 for results, but the last month have twice been slightly elevated to 80ish on both test results.
Doctors like to see elevated lipase above 700 of so before they call it pancreatitis, but in my case years ago it was a slow build up of sludge blockage in my bile ducts which caused the pancreatitis.
Before it reached those levels years ago, the ER blew me off for years before the accurate diagnosis.
These tests are done after fasting for more then 12 hours, I don't understand how I could be dumping out extra lipase all of a sudden if I am not eating.
BTW, I am tapering pred, and as such have stopped eating entirely after noon each day from the intestinal pain, I am starving yet my lipase still stays elavted, Im living off ensure pretty much.
My question is, what questions should I ask my Doctor, what should he be looking into because I can tell you what he is going to say "He will tell me the numbers are not high enough to be of worry" and I will leave thinking, well they got another co-pay for nothing.
I am terrified of another ercp, the last one led from pancreatitis to acute pancreatitis.
