Not that I want to beat a dead horse here, but I did say I would update ya'll.
This is more a "wow" "lol" moment.
After 2 left phone messages the Gi's assistant called me back just now to schedule my procedure. I asked her first thing about the sedation and she said it was called "twilight" (yeah now I remember that "BS Name" for sedation), like "Go Lightly", who are they fooling with these "user friendly" labels.
Anyway, I calmly explained how torturous these procedures were over time for me and asked if I could be put to sleep, she said ""they" don't do that".
Then she asked if I could wait while she looked up my previous procedures. She proceeded to tell me my previous ones were under Twilight.
I was like, "yeah I know, Why do you think I am asking for sleep". I didn't say that out loud.
She continued by telling me they would be very "generous" with the Twilight drugs. WTH is this a sales call or my Gi's assistant. Do I get "True Coating" on my cars exterior which will protect its paint job forever as well? How about a going away prize, like the home version of the game "Operation". Maybe a sticker if I'm good.
So I said, " Well, I guess I am at an impass, I can't do the procedure under twilight and you don't do sleep, so, I suppose we will just wait till something explodes and we can go from there." (yes I played the sick-guilt card)
Next she tells me that they do have an anasteologist but only one day out of each month. (Yes, I completely ignored the fact that she lied to me about having an anasteseologist and said nothing) Ok. I saw an opening here, so I told her, hey if it is a scheduling issue, then I am cool with whatever day your anastesologist is there.
Then she proceeds to tell me I have done multiple colonoscopies before under twilight. Then my brain froze. Colonoscopy? What?
Uh what, it's an endoscopy, with possible ercp and she's like, nope, it's a colonoscopy, that is what the doctor wrote. ok.
I just told her not to worry, just contact my gi and clear up which procedure he meant to do, tell him I wish to be asleep and call me back when you know something.
Just more funny moments from a giant corporate hospital (Kaiser) which clearly is (cynic coming) looking out for their bottom line, rather than the patients comfort.
Scheduling and doctor written mistakes I tolerate, they happen all the time.
The hospital nickle and diming me. BS.
Seriously, where would I be without you guys, real patients telling me real turths here, cause it sure isn't my hospital.
It is all good though. I got my symptoms under comtrol with a liquid (ensure) diet, throw in a few noodles and soft veggies with some cut up chicken. I premake this big batch each week, then spoon out about 4 oucnes at a time in a bowel and eat it twice a day.
Anything fatty will just about destroy your pancreas if that is indeed my problem, so I can't complain to much about pain, just the hopsital looking out for my "best interests" :)
I write way to much, sorry guys :)
