Hi all,   For years I was diagnosed as having ulcerative colitis but was just recently diagnosed with Crohn's in September of this year. My GI doctor after a colonoscopy found ulcers on my small intestine which lead to me being diagnosed with Crohn's   I have been going through an awful flare up but I am starting to feel better. During the worst part of my flare my GI doctor prescribed me two antibiotics, Cipro and Metronidazole and I went off of those about three weeks ago. I'm also now tapering off of Prednisone. I went from 60mg and am now currently down to 20mg.   about two days ago I developed a rash on my forearm, neck and legs but didn't think anything of it because it's happened to me before I even started the antibiotics and Lilada. The rash doesn't hurt, itch or is rasied. It just kind of pops up here and there and then disappears. Also, this morning my wife noticed that I developed small black spots on my tongue.   Is this common with having Crohn's disease? I have read that rashes were but I can't find anything about black spots on tongues.

I think you should contact your GI, you probably need to be looked at. Let us know what they say.

Antibiotics and pepto can give you those black spots on your tongue. I would try brushing it a couple times and see if that helps.

Antibiotcs can also cause thrush, which would then make your tongue white and feel kinda hairy (yeast infection).

Welp, talked to my GI doctor. He said he didn't know what it was and that since it's not causing me any pain or discomfort, to keep an eye on it and if it gets worse then he'll write me a referral to see a dermatologist.

A dermatologist??? Shouldn't he suggest an ENT?
What do the spots look like? Could they be tiny blood clots?

Yeah, a dermatologist.  I don't quite get it either.

The spots are small, black and one spot looks like a sore. I didn't even notice they there. It doesn't hurt or is causing any discomfort. I just assumed it was a part of this disease.

I wonder if he even paid attention or heard when you said you had black spots on your tongue.
You can always go to a walk-in or call your family doc.
