I haven't bought the pastry yet, but will tell you how it is if I do. Will also take a note of the brand for you, and keep my fingers crossed that it's available in NZ too.
Wouldn't shop GF pies have onions in them?
That's a great idea, about
cooking the onions in chunks and then taking them out. I forgot that I have oodles of chives and spring onions (the asian onions) in the garden, too - currently overrun with weeds due to a week of hospitalling, but still useable.
Wouldn't it be lovely to have a normal gut and a normal body, and just be able to go out and buy a healthy, yummy, prepared meal, that can just be thrown in the oven and reheated with no effort? I do get tired of everything being so hard... whinge, whinge, whinge.
So far, I have found oodles of creamed / baked / souffled rice recipes for desserts, as well as a "crumble" that is made with corn flakes or rice bubbles instead of the usual flour; a few san choy bau type recipes, and a few pritikin ones that might be useable, with tweaking to reduce the fruit content.
Starting on folder #2 now...
ps. it's not really comfort food I need, but food that's comfortable to cook! One foot operation = limited tolerance for standing in the kitchen and then doing the washing up; plus fatigue leaves a poor tolerance for pretty much anything, really.
Whinge whinge whnige (again).
