First I want to say how much I appreciate being able to participate in this wonderful group and I am grateful for everyone who has contributed, especially it's founder!

I am trying to understand why it is so upsetting to me that Ivy and Nanners appear to no longer be mods. I think it has to do with the role that a mod takes, at least in my own thinking, as leaders of this "family". To me they have earned their position through what they have provided for the rest of us, namely support and care. I may be overdoing it, but it's almost like someone is telling me my aunt Arlene is no longer my aunt, but just Arlene.

Family members rarely understand and support in the way that these ladies have, in my experience. Sorry, I just had to vent a little more about this. Hope everyone has a good day.

((((((Big Betty)))))

Just remember...they are still in the family.  We haven't lost them.  They might not be our leader, but they are still here and hopefully they will read everything that people have to say about them and they will stay with us.

They can still be just as encouraging and compassionate as they've always been. They just don't have the MOD title under their name.

Gail posted

Sad post about Nanners and Ivy....

This family is still here, but the "leader" needs to be dealt with, period.

We should try and keep these posts going under Nan and Ivy's thread, not that I mind, but it is 4 pages deep now, and both Gail adn Ivy posted there.

I said my piece there.

Thanks

JJon

Come on, folks! So Peter didn't handle it as well as he should. Quit rubbing salt in Nanner and Ivy's wounds by keeping this subject alive.

The only thing they've "lost" is the ability to lock a thread or edit a thread. In their place they've 'GAINED" the peace of mind to only read those posts and threads that interest them and that they WANT to read. No more feeling they have to try to read every post, every thread. FREEDOM!

Once I got over the "sting" due to Peter's slip in diplomacy and tact I'd be celebrating if I were Nanners or Ivy!!! Now they can have their cake and eat it too!!!

Nanners, Ivy, ENJOY your newfound FREEDOM. (((hugs) and thanks, gals.

Thank you Big Betty, unfortunately I come from a miserable family that have mistreated me basically from the time I was born. Which also brings me to the expression that we cannot choose our families. But we do have the power to create our own families with our good friends and whatever support systems work for us.

I would like to bring up the really bad taste in my mouth to borrow the expression from Sniper. I have read several of the threads and the more I read about how we should continue on and how much good Peter has done I get madder and angrier.

If this was a "real" company and not just somewhere in the internet and women who had been doing their jobs as well as Ivy and Gail had all of a sudden been stripped of their responsibilities and told that they no longer have a "title" and their services are no longer required but that they were still invited to "shop" at the store, or participate from the sidelines they could sue the pants off of their employer. I am very sensitive to this sort of sexism.

Sexism?! What next?
People give their time and effort to reply to posts because they care, and not because of some arbitrary title.
CrohnieToo is the voice of reason here. It should be a relief not to have to be a mod and to be able to post whenever it feels appropriate.
If the love is real then the support will continue, surely, in spite of some meaningless title?

Isn't is more important to look after the really important things - our health and each other, including Admin. who have taken quite a cruel beating with remarkably good grace?
Please let go of the hatred, it is so unhealthy, and contagious.

This forum is a dot com NOT a dot org which makes it a FOR PROFIT enterprise and as such Peter, his wife, and whoever else is on the real life board of this HW company stands to make a handsome profit. All the mods work here for nothing. Right there I see something wrong. This has nothing to do with whose a nice person.

And yes it is sexism and a few other isms that I know would get deleted right away off of here. It is sad and shocking to me how many of you women can defend Peter with not only what he did but HOW he did this to Gail and Ivy - with no warning!!

Those of you that seem to think that treating people the way Peter has with Nanners and Ivy is ok because he is sick right now or because it could have been done better but let's all let bygones be bygones have no backbone in my opinion

Whenever I have seen workers treated this way in companies I have worked for I have stood up to the owners and have even quit to make my point. IT"S CALLED INTEGRITY!

I've seen this time in and again, when a company grows and gets to a certain point the owner has a meltdown of sorts. They even throw their best people out (look at what happened to Steve Jobs and Apple for instance)

WE the members of this forum are the family. HEALING WELL and PETER WAITE are a FOR PROFIT company.

open YOUR EYES PEOPLE

Nanners has already posted and said that outside people came in here to start a problem. It is something I have been saying for a while. Stop defending Peter. He is a lousy manager. He may be a great individual but I don't know him in real life. I can only see what he has written and presented of himself on here.

He did not fire them because of their gender. It is not sexism. It was an adminstrative decision. He doesn't have some sort of vendetta against all women. Good grief.

OK....ENOUGH!!!

This has gone on long enough and is now starting to get anoying.

Can we all just move on from this. What is done is done and it isn't going to change. We have all voiced our opinion. Can we just get back to being a supportive forum again.

Thank you.

Thanks JavaJay - I totally agree. This is SO overblown. I have never seen a bunch of adults act like such big babies in my entire life. WHO CARES if Peter makes a profit off of this site? REALLY? He started it. He's run it. He's earned it. You don't have to like it. You don't have to agree with it. Mods are VOLUNTEERS. VOLUNTEERS. None of you have paid to come here. You came here for FREE. FREE help, FREE resources, FREE advice, FREE. If you don't like it, feel free to go somewhere else. And when YOU decide to create your own "for profit company" you can make whatever decisions YOU want. Until then you are just a patron here unless you choose not to be.

We have new moderators! That's it. They haven't been banned from the site. You act as if he's killed them off or something. If Gail and Ivy have issue with Peter -it's THEIR issue. The change of mods should have no effect on what you came here for. It's REALLY not THAT big of a deal. And if it feels that way to you, then may I suggest you step away from the computer and occupy yourself with something else for a bit so you can get some perspective before your return.

NY Veggie - as Peter and Lynnwood pointed out in the other thread, ***.com doesn't mean it is a "for profit" enterprise, and rarely do message boards and blogs actually make any profit. To make money, you have to have an income generating product or service.

Enrollment and participation here is free! That is their product. Yeah, there are a few ads on top of the page. You get a little more income if anyone actually clicks on the ads, but I'd bet that income is oceans away from a "handsome profit".

I'm a writer/editor/moderator of an unofficial sports team blog. It is one of the most visited for this particular team. The more viewers and participants that you have, the more bandwidth you have to pay for. You want functionality and updated software. It costs money.

I know our sports blog owner pays more for this type of stuff than he receives in advertising. He relies on volunteers to write material and moderate the comment section. That's the real world of internet blogs & forums.
