Have your wife check with her HR benefits coordinator. Many employer insurances require you to use Medicare as your primary provider, and their policies become Medicare supplements when you are Medicare eligible. In my case, I got the best of both worlds as between the Medicare and supplement I'm paying quite a bit less out of pocket, and I still got to keep the prescript
ion coverage with my employer insurance.
Be aware that Medicaid prescription coverage is a "donut" type coverage. They cover the first so many dollars worth at a low co-pay, then there's a big window where they provided no coverage at all. If you exceed the amount of the window, they then pick up coverage at a somewhat lower rate.
