My husband had a perianal abscess surgically removed 4 weeks ago. He was prescribed SMZ/TMP DS 800-160 and Cephalexin 500 mg. After about
4 days he started getting aching joints, chills, loss of energy and loss of appetite. After 10 days of this, I took him to the ER and the ER physician thought he was reacting to the antibiotics...told him to stop taking them and gave him script
s for Tramadol 50 mg and Hydroxyzine HCL 25 mg. Also did blood tests and said everything seemed to be normal. The meds didn't seem to make any difference. Back to the original Doctor who now has him on Valium 10mg. None of the symptoms have changed, but maybe the edge taken off them. He still is very fatigued, has to force himself to eat, and gets chills in his legs and arms. Before initial surgery he was very active and now he has no energy. Any suggestions would be appreciated. If we decide to go to another Dr. what kind do we go to? A neurologist? Immunologist? Endocrinologist? Please help me.
